During my early Christian life (born again in1975), I poured over theological doctrines trying to determine which were valid and how they practically applied to everyday Christian life. I also moved about through many theological “camps” and experiences. More than anything, I wanted to have a victorious Christian life, not one characterized by the ups and downs of carnality and defeat.
If we were to ask, “Whom does God save?”, our first thought would be: those who have a humble, broken and contrite heart.
• Ps. 34:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
This is true. But, as we look a little further, in the book of Acts we see that the Apostle Paul recognized that God saves those who fear God. This fear means a reverent awe for God.
